Wait, what? I can shake off my stresses & tensions in the body?
I first learnt about TRE: Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises from my work back in 2019. Then my life was a bit of a chaos. I was super stressed since many things didn't go as planned. I didn't know much about trauma or how it could obstruct one from living in the present or how it affects the body and worldviews.
I took part in a TRE training while visiting home in Thailand and learnt that our body has the wisdom to let go of undischarged energy from our stress responses. When we allow this process to do what it does best, we can be in the driver’s seat of our life again. With traumas, what is in the past does not only stay in the past. Trauma lives in the body and I have the power, love and responsibility to allow myself to heal and change my circumstances.
Since then, I've been shaking off to allow myself to release the muscular tensions held inside me. I learnt to allow myself and my body to do what it's innately designed to do. Together with many other therapy forms I consistently practice like yoga, exercise, dance and talk theory, I am now much more connected, and present. My sense of self-awareness has improved as well as my well-being and health.
I feel at home and safe in my body.
Not saying it's always rainbow and sunshine, and it takes time, faith, and lots of practices. For me though, I know I am in charge of my own life, in each moment of each day.
Today I came across this video that I watched back when my TRE journey started in 2019 and would like to share it with you here.
If you are new to the concept that the body has the innate wisdom to heal, I invite you to close your eyes, and think of a time when you have a wound and you literally do nothing to cure it...a few days later, it becomes completely healed.
Every breath you're taking right now, your natural mechanism is in the process of bringing back your state of equilibrium. 🦋
Love and gratitude,
Pichay
