With the globalization of business, being able to cooperate and work with people from different cultures is a vital skill to have. It is key for a successful diverse team. Within businesses, for those of us working in teams of diverse, lots of times cultural barriers can be presented in layers that could cause conflicts at all levels.
To have an ability to show up, lead and follow, work and collaborate in a multicultural context takes more than just the understanding of the language, and traditional cultural training.
It can be difficult when you are an international team member when you are stuck in fight/flight/freeze. Being in fight/flight/freeze, you cannot operate, respond to the situations calmly or logically. Your neocortex is shut off and you become disconnected when you are in your survival mode.
To regulate your nervous system and reduce stress through that mechanism helps widen your window of resilience and TRE® and embodied self-awareness can do just that to leave long-lasting outcomes. A tool like TRE calms down your nervous system and releases the muscular tensions in the body from years of living in your fight/flight/freeze system.
TRE helps your body create space for more possibilities, ideas, and productivity, whether for you to spot the differences or similarities among your team members more clearly, or to explore the conflicts from a different view, or to really be in the present moments in order to truly make an accurate response for you and those around you.
Once you come out of the survival state, you can be more socially engaged, and feel safer even in any different cultural context. Through time, you might also learn to adapt and bridge the culture gap by seeing others from different perspectives from a more centered, calmer, warmer place within your heart and being.
You can give yourself new options for new possibilities, new feelings, new freedom through the body and allow yourself the natural healing power today. Your choice.
